#95 Jamison Fear can be a guide
Adam Webber
:
:

Jamison shares a story about what happens when you set out on a goal and something that seems like a bad circumstance derails your goals and alters the trajectory of your life but this thing that at first seems like the worst situation becomes a new opportunity in the not to distant future. This is the position that Jamison found himself in as he sat alone for hours on top of a mountain waiting for a rescue squad to come help him back down the mountain… he had just broken his leg and his goal of getting back into the military had just taken a downturn. But Jamison changed his mindset focused on a new mission and taught himself how to code during his downtime with a broken leg. Now that we are in the middle of a lockdown this new skill has served Jamison well and he has been booking more and more clients and leveling up his skills. Fear can help set your direction and if you are not scared then maybe you aren’t challenging yourself. #93 Michael Letting employees go
Adam Webber
:
:

Michael shares his experience of having to let people go during this hard economic downturn. The fear of having the conversation was really heavy and scary for him at first but he realized that once he had it the people who worked from him understood. He mentions a lot of interesting things during our conversation - about company culture and a mantra that is super helpful to think about: Sonder which he explained to me as "The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passed in the street, has a life as complex as one's own”. This is a important perspective to come back to as a way to remember that other people are also dealing with stresses and pains and fears - so it can help remind us to be a little kinder to each other especially during stressful times. #90 Snoota Sola The 5 senses and a positive attitude
Adam Webber
:
:

Snoota Sola’s main message - never get discouraged. Snoota says to live your best life, keep a positive attitude and know that life is 90% attitude and 10% circumstance so make sure to know the difference between positive attitude and negativity. Something interesting to me was the focus on the 5 sense to use as a way to refocus your mind and body on better things… stimulate smell like through incense or the ears through sound but how effective the 5 senses can be in creating what we think about and focusing on positive things. Check out Snoota Sola’s YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH-fvLJwJNRoC-ROtMgn4kQ/videos and Soundcloud Here: https://soundcloud.com/user-17789695 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/snoota.solaa/

#79 Melissa Calm words from a person to talk to
Adam Webber
:
:

Melissa’s talk today was a wave of calm in a sea of stress that has flooded every corner of the world at this current moment in time. We are inundated by the panic of disease health wise but also the speed of mental disease. All the patterns of life that we had become accustom to are now erased and all we have is the present moment of now. Fear is the ego trying to protect us but it is actually multiplying the fear and causing us to panic. In this moment become quiet, turn in ward and focus on your breath. Melissa’s talk today was soothing and extremely helpful for me to listen to. Bagzadaryda is a musician, poet and performer that tells us a story about getting on stage and feeling the grips of fear during his first performance. I imagine this is the first battle that all performers need to go through, like a right of passage. If you want to perform and if you want a audience, you first need to conquer your own inner fears - the fear of setting foot on stage. Bagzadaryda tells us that everyone will have moments when they are messing up but if you keep charging ahead you will win over the audience, they will get behind you and the feeling is amazing once you keep doing what you love. #76 Al A Radical Transformation
Adam Webber
:
:

Al reminds me of the butterfly metaphors that we use to describe someone who has visibly gone through a massive transformation in their lives and come out the other side a changed person. When he was younger he spent so much time isolating himself that when it came time to make friends and be social, he was so unsure of himself. Al had to put himself though a radical transformation where he searched inwardly and outwardly for things that felt he could connect with to become a truer version of himself. He became addicted to self improvement and growing. He put in the hard work and from the sound of his story his life has transformed and he has taken flight. Check out Al’s YouTube and a link to a podcast that he recommends that helped him figure out “life’s rules” because as he puts it "If you don’t know the rules, you can’t play the game”. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-art-of-charm/id212382281 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKiqkrts7V9ivl19PtdgVtg/featured

#75 Nasir When dreams transition and fear fades
Adam Webber
:
:

From the age 6 Nasir had a voice inside that said something was different and it scared him. The fear came from the fact that the world on the outside was not reflecting who Nasir knew he was from the inside. In his heart Nasir was a man, but his cousin was telling him to get ready to grow breasts when you grow up — because Nasir had the organs of a female. The shattering feeling of the world not recognizing your inner voice and that your dreams of being a man might not become the reality is a haunting premise that can break a heart. Maybe it was from experiencing fear, a different view of life that in his later years gave Nasir a voice and material to channel artwork that fuels his creativity but again Nasir had to make a choice — to go through a transition with injecting testosterone and risk losing your singing voice and maybe lose the thing that brings you peace and safety or to not go through with the transition and not honor the inner voice of who you are. This is Nasir’s beautiful story of transition and Nasir’s amazing voice. #73 Edrian The journey of finding ourself
Adam Webber
:
:

Edrian is a creative soul who realized early on that in order to live his authentic life that he would need to come out to his parents as gay. However, Edrian also comes from a very traditional Filipino family so this would make the experience doubly hard. None of us want to disappoint our family and we all want validation and love. We want to be accepted and have a bond with our mothers and fathers and if this deep desire doesn’t get met, what do we do? How do we make sense of this day to day and forge ahead with a life that still means something to us. In Edrian’s story he talks about pain and forgiveness, love and family, his art and film and finding his own way. In a partnered venture with Barbie rebuilt an online platform that despite the amazing idea behind the technology we could not get to product market fit and had many bumps in the road. In todays conversation barbie shared with me a little perspective from her reflections on success and failure, lessons of forgiveness, figuring out how to take care of our own “sides of the street”, being honest and not bringing old wounds into new relationships. Barbie is extremely talented and smart so it was a really good experience for me to be able to talk with her about what she had been thinking about since we folded the company that we had collaborated on many years ago now. Adam Webber

Paulie is an incredible person who has a fascinating story to teach us about life, fear, and perspective. In so many ways Paulie has lived out the American dream of success, he has even worked for one of the most iconic figures of the last decade - Steve Jobs. Paulie has made a ton of money, bought an amazing house in a beautiful southern California neighborhood, he has the expensive watches and a closet full of suites but what he is here to warn us about is what so many of us risk losing in the pursuit of wealth and money. Paulie ended up with a powerful revelation and he considers himself lucky to have had the opportunity to go through the ups and downs - he warns us that some of his closest friends weren’t able to ask for help and sadly have passed away due to suicide because of it. #68 Tony The year of personal best
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Tony Loyd about his amazing journey in 2019 that he calls “The year of personal best”. It all started with a question from a close friend - it is a question that we ask each other daily but on most occasion it doesn’t resonate within us where we can answer it honestly… and if we were challenged to answer honestly would we be able to heed the call that forces us to change our lives. Tony calls this change Agency - it places the responsibility for our lives and actions back on us. It means we need to take the steering wheel and drive because waiting around for someone else to do it means that we probably won’t end up with the life that we want in the end. Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Natalie about fear. Natalie works in the movie industry and she discusses with me what its like to work in an industry where it's so competitive that you are not sure if you will make it and how the industry can be cut throat and turn a lot of people away after a while. This is a scary premise that the thing that you love doing in your life can also be harsh, competitive and dog-eat-dog. #64 Alexis A car accident and halo brace
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Alexis who has a fear of driving. Understandable, she was driving and the next thing she knew was that she woke up in the hospital and the doctor was telling her that she would need to wear a halo neck brace for the next six months. Her attitude, "let's party" but maybe that was the MDMA that was lingering in her system after overdosing the night before. Regardless, if you have not looked up a halo brace, I had to, they are super gnarly. One of the worst parts for Alexis was seeing how much pain she put her mother through during the entire experience. Now Alexis is learning to get comfortable behind the wheel again - going at her own pace and with support driving again. Next time you are driving behind someone that might be going a little slow, remember to have some compassion and slow down for them. You never know what someone is going through in this life. #62 Sammy Trauma childhood pain and the power of love
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Sammy about fear and trauma that started at a young age but also Sammy brings awareness that trauma can even begin from the time a child is in her mothers womb. Life can be so delicate on one hand and if not properly cared for and loved and become deeply effected by our environment. Sammy grew up in a unsafe environment and had to deal with her mother continuously getting involved in bad relationships that put Sammy and her siblings in a harmful and traumatic situation. Sammy was victim and witnessed years of abuse from the men that her mother was involved with and she never felt safe or secure. She also was the oldest and took on a feeling of responsibility to take care of her siblings starting when she was just 6 years old. So while life can be delicate and fragile, life can also be resilient and strong… like Sammy - she has evolved into a voice of awareness and understanding. She is not repeating the destructive patterns that she was raised in but rather she has become a beacon of light and love with a goal to make the world a safer and better place. Sammy has dedicated her life to child and mental health advocacy. https://www.acesconnection.com/ Website: https://dissociationation.wordpress.com/

In Don’s case he was all set to experience live out the typical college life of a parting freshman when all of a sudden his path was altered by an incident that ended up getting him put on a year long leave. But instead of sitting on the couch or doing nothing with his life he decided to put himself through a rigorous education program of a different kind. Instead Don would challenge himself by going through a NOLS education program that would give him a new perspective on life and leadership. https://www.nols.edu/ Youtube: https://youtu.be/nPgvtEulkA8

Adam Webber
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with MoJo Adam who shared how fear was a part of his entrepreneurial journey — something that was holding him back from achieving his goals. But after talking to a friend which lead him down the path of getting a life coach he began to put his goals and aspirations into hyperdrive and found him self on the path to getting stuff done. First things first — MoJo wants you to recognize that fear is fake (note that we have heard someone else in this podcast stories also say this same thing! maybe we should be paying close attention to this mindset). MoJo speaks directly to any fears that he might have first thing in the mooring and sets his intentions and mindset fist thing — this means he is priming his day for success and not let fear hide somewhere in his subconscious psyche… instead he gets everything out on the table fast and then moves forward with his day. #54 Pablo Schizophrenia drugs and the willingness to fight for a better life
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the honor of hearing Pablo’s incredible story of being a child who’s parents immigrated from Mexico and raised his family in an extremely poor neighborhood in Los Angeles. Pablo witnessed his parents having a rocky relationship from a young age and his brother ended up in jail. Then in 6th grade he started using drugs which led him to meth and alcohol. Pablo eventually found his way in and out of jail and a mental hospital where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Pablo’s resilience allowed him to see the voices that he hears in his head as a gift that has led him to be the first in his family to go to college. Pablo has an amazing story of dropping all the way to the lowest scariest places in life and fighting his way back up. Here is his story.

#52 Hyon Having a voice school
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of hearing Hyon’s story of fear and school and having a voice. Having I migrated to the United States and going to school he never felt confident or comfortable speaking up in school and this fear had a huge impact on Hyon’s ability to complete College... at least the first time he attempted it. But then Hyon experienced a second fear, an even greater fear then his initial fear and this second fear gave him an entirely new mindset and perspective on his original fear of not having the courage to speak up and have a voice. So Hudson goes back to school and this time he was living beyond his fear and he will tell you the rest in his story... https://twitter.com/hleegator

#51 Maigyn Cult And Breaking Free
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the amazing experience of speaking with Maigyn who has lived one of those unbelievable stories… Maigyn grew up in a cult. She was brainwashed from a young age to not speak with anyone outside of their religious group and was trained to cut out anyone who “was not one of them”. Whenever she met someone for the first time she would first need to find out if they were part of the same cult organization and if they weren’t she would not speak with them. This behavior though began to wear on her and make her afraid of the world and she started making poor decisions and she lost trust in things. It wasn’t until Maigyn broke free of the cult and began researching fear for herself that she began to concur her fears of the world. She see’s fear as a response to things not an emotion. Maigyn has so much to teach us about facing and moving through fear without letting it stop us from living the life we choose for ourselves. #50 AC Williams Religion family community and gay
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with AC Williams about what it was like growing up in a religious family and for a long time keeping the secret that he is gay. AC felt like he was living a double life. It was very difficult and caused AC to have stress, anxiety and many sleepless nights until he finally told a very close and trusted friend his secret. Once he was able to tell his trusted friend his secret and see that he was still loved and accepted he began to open up to more friends and get the support that we all need to feel connected in this world. One thing that is certain is that for having gone through this experience and reveal who he truly is has allowed AC to feel lighter, happier and alive… his advise to anyone that is caught in the same situations of fear - take a leap of faith and you will land in a better place for it. #49 Ashley Losing the person we love most
Adam Webber
:
:

Today i had the pleasure of speaking with Ashley about her father and what it was like for her to grow up with the fear of losing him. Ashley’s father Eric Lynn Cummings was (and still is) her most favorite person in her life. You can tell that he inspired her and she has drawn strength, love and so much of life’s mysteries from her fathers being. When Ashley was just a young girl she discovered the idea of death and the thought of losing her father made her write up a contract for him to sign that he would not die. I can only imagine how a pure and innocent gesture like this from ones child would rock any parents soul to the core. But since this early day of childhood, Ashley has had to go though the heartbreaking experience of losing her father and she has come out the other side as a grown woman with a new understanding on life’s contracts and how there are honored… through the beauty and mysteries of life… for her father is still with her in spirit and soul. Her advise from having experienced the the true depths of loss… you will be ok. Dedicated to Eric Lynn Cummings https://www.instagram.com/ashleycummingsyoga007/

#48 Jarrell Gentrification change

Today I spoke with Jarrell about what he has been witnessing in his hometown of San Fransisco and the Bay area in regards to gentrification and the feeling he has when the place that he is from, the place that his family is from has spiraled out of control with unaffordable property values. I imagine it to be a painful experience - watching your home town change in a way that gets flooded with money and technology and doesn’t have a way for people with generations of family to continue to remain in the area in any real way. Jarrell speaks about his experience in a raw and beautiful way — where his mission is to share his story and bring more awareness to the realities of what is happening to his home and is a stark reality that many people are dealing with across America. #47 Thomas Speech disaster but finding the silver lining
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Thomas who shared his story of public speaking and in his case it wen’t (in his mind) horribly wrong. Public speaking is a fear that almost everyone that I know of shares in the dread and stress. Thomas was asked to give a public speech and when he got up to the stage he realized that many things where not going well for him and he was feeling tense and vulnerable and quickly losing the connection with the audience. This humbling experience made him start to think more about what it takes to put ourselves out into the world like this and how we need to be a little nicer to each other because we are all at a certain level vulnerable. Even though it was a fear and stressful event, Thomas is looking for more opportunities to speak and he knows that the only way to get better is to keep doing it. This forward thinking mentality means that one day, I am sure, Thomas will give the best speech of his life. https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-thomas-4300b778 https://m.facebook.com/ryan.t.redmond1 https://www.instagram.com/2reddot/ www.soundcloud.com/tworeddot/givemeyourheart https://m.facebook.com/2Reddot/?ref=bookmarks www.2reddot.com

#46 Yall Yall Teaching becomes the teacher
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Y’all Y'all about fear and the first day teaching a class for adults learning English as a second language. Y’all Y’all’s story amazed me so much because he went from not doing well in his own college studies to washing dishes and was fortunate to land a job eventually teaching immigrants English as a second language… people who have come to the USA in search of a better life for themselves and their families and one giant determining factor of climbing the social economic ladder is learning how to speak english. It could mean the difference of getting on the correct bus to get to work or being able to communicate with a doctor, lawyer or future employer… in essence it can mean the world. But Y’all Y’all had so much anxiety on his first day that he was sweating profusely and the entire class knew he was scared of teaching. He had to deal with self defeating thoughts like “am i good enough” or “am I an imposter”? thoughts that could keep us from reaching our best selves… but Y’all Y’all was determined to teach the class and he walked away from the experience with having made some amazing connections with new people who valued his support and willingness to show up and teach them and over all I believe he has made the world a better place in the process. He would tell you, “just don’t over think it”. #45 Chris Saying Yes
Adam Webber
:
:

Today i had the pleasure of speaking with Chris about feeling social anxiety when he was younger, around the time of high school and college. Chris found it scary to talk to strangers and make friends early on but there came a time when he was sitting in his room alone and he thought to himself that he was going to make a change… a big change and he would put himself out into the world more and start saying YES to life’s opportunities. He knew deep down that he had a ton of value inside to offer if he was given the chance to meet more people. Chris began to go to every event that he could signup for and any time someone invited him to do something he would accept the invitation — his old self might shy away but this new self was going to make an effort and see who in the world he could meet. It wasn’t long before people started recognizing Chris around campus and coming up to him to say hi. What an amazing feeling and saying Yes to our fears! #44 Michael Fear of flying
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Michael about his fear of flying. When Michael received a promotion at work it meant that he would need to do more traveling which would require him to fly. Yikes… what do you do when you get that promotion, more pay, and really do love to travel but you a completely afraid of flying? Michael shared with me some amazing tips and thoughts about how he took incremental steps and found tactics to help him get into a headspace where he could accept the promotion and get onto the airplane and fly. I love the metaphor fear of flying has in it also… where we can go new places and reach new heights but first we must step onto the airplane and lift off into the air before we can soar — and when we land we are in a new place, our horizons have expanded.

#43 Mia Finding your own path finding health in the process
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Mia who shared her powerful story of what it was like to be a young kid and dealing with health issues. The hospital is already a scary place and to grow up as a kid needing to go to the hospital to treat a chronic condition with endless bloodwork tests sounds heartbreaking. When you do not have your health and there is no one who can diagnose or fix your health issues then you are left feeling powerless and unsafe. But Mia’s story is also about reclaiming her strength and deciding her own life path as she decided to move across the country, against her family and friends judgment to seek alternative medicine in the medicinal space — this was before the current cultural shift in mindset about the positive health related benefits of medical marijuana. Mia’s journey took courage and a reclaiming of her identity and health. She tells the story in todays podcast. #40 Charli There is more than one solution
Adam Webber
:
:

Today i head the pleasure of speaking with Charli about the fear that our lives can start out on one path and many times that path can be defined by outside influences like our families or society and so we spend a large portion of our lives heading down a path that might not be our hearts path or our true path. Charli recognized this at grad school and knew to the core that this path was not the one for Charli so a change had to be made and the path of music was Charli’s true calling. Charli reminds us not to get stuck in tunnel vision and that there is more than one solution to a problem, you just need to be open to it. Sometimes it comes down to having the bravery to be honest with yourself and if you are not on your true life path then explore another one. :
:

Today I had the honor of talking with Moriah (aka Steel Maggie) who is an artist and musician and has an amazing podcast but she also had to hit rock bottom with her drinking before she could really start taking her life back. Drinking was an escape that gave Moriah permission to not care about the pressure of being good enough, of the feeling of being judged by other people and the fear of success — in essence living in fear every day. It was amazing to hear Moriah speak about where she has been and where she is going. Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Kevin about the stress and fear of not having as much as other people and the way that social media can exacerbate the feelings of missing out. Kevin works super hard and has the pressures of his family to save money and be able to afford a better life. like buying a house and taking care of a family one day. But the cost of living is extremely expensive and attaining that dream seems far off and hard to attain. #37 Val Taxidermy some places you just dont go to
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Val about her phobia of taxidermy (the preserving of an animal's body via mounting or stuffing, for the purpose of display or study). Val thinks this phobia could probably traced back to deeper trauma that she may have experienced but she is still unclear. She spoke to me about finding communities online where people who share the same taxidermy-phobia can connect… and it made me think how amazing it is to be able to find others in the world and connect with them using these online tools that can reassure us that we are not the only ones that have these fears. It is nice to be reassured that we are not alone… and sometimes that’s all we need. Also, there are someplace that you just don’t go to and that’s ok too. #36 Shawn Get off the couch do something
Adam Webber
:
:

Today I had the pleasure of talking to Shawn who after went thought a difficult relationship and separation with his wife found himself not living his best life. He was "stuck on the couch” physically and mentally. Sometimes words hit you at a certain time and place when you need them most… in this case it was his manager who said “if you aren’t living scared then you aren’t truly living”. For Shawn these words changed his life and the course of his life. He is now chasing down his dreams and from the sound of it living life on his terms and manifesting the life that he wants to live… not the life he wishes he could live. It is a big difference — he has taken action and is putting himself out into the world every day in search for new opportunities. Instagram @red_dawn_shawn Instagram @thebingobrothers
